During that journey, in 2011, I met Giannis. As a couple, we had been diagnosed with unexplained infertility. Deep inside, I felt that something was blocking me, but nothing could have prepared me for what I would discover during my sessions with Giannis. I uncovered the deep emotional wound left by a pregnancy that had ended years earlier. I discovered my anger, my grief, but also my capacity for love. One sentence that Giannis often repeated proved to be profoundly true: “If you want to become pregnant, you have to stop worrying about whether you'll become pregnant.” When my soul was finally ready, and when I had completely surrendered my desperate need to become pregnant, I conceived naturally. I found out I was pregnant just two days before my 41st birthday in 2014. Today, we are holding our beautiful baby girl in our arms.

I began trying to have a child shortly after getting married at the age of forty. Because of problems with my fallopian tubes, I underwent IVF treatment. What followed were three years of unimaginable hardship: repeated IVF cycles, surgical procedures, and a series of medical errors. By the end of that journey, my endometrium had become so severely damaged that my chances of achieving pregnancy had been reduced to almost nothing. At the age of forty-three, I decided that I would make one final attempt, but this time I wanted to take ownership of my journey. I only managed to complete four sessions before my embryo transfer. It was the only IVF cycle during which I completely stopped obsessing over everything the doctors were telling me. At the beginning of the cycle, my endometrium appeared, as always, inadequate.
